Whether signing up for a yoga class as a New Year’s resolution, or simply starting a fitness regimen for better health, the proper gym wear can be as important as the safety procedures surrounding the machines. Gym clothes that can complement the wearer’s appearance, while enhancing the workout are available and an integral part of any gym goers’ equipment.
Form Fitting
While the words “form fitting” may call to mind the leotards and tights of the '80s, today’s gym clothing should fit the user well, while still being comfortable to both wear and move in. It can be tempting to start out at the gym wearing oversized t-shirts and shorts, comfortable both in their fit and in their concealing properties, but this choice can be detrimental to the gym routine for a few reasons.
A novice athlete, or someone who has not exercised for a period of a year or more may be unfamiliar with equipment shown at the gym, or may decide to hire the services of a fitness trainer to help ease the transition into a fitness routine. Loose, baggy clothing risks getting in the way of the proper use of some machinery, causing a potentially hazardous situation. Loose clothing can also make it difficult for a fitness trainer to make sure that their client is using proper form, and engaging the correct muscle groups. Form fitting clothing can help solve both of these problems.
